Well, without beating around the bush :), messing about with the skew and moving the LNB forward made little difference. I’m sure the dish is well positioned. So just ordered an inverto from amazon.it, €14.95 with prime. Still need a new dish. Anyone got an address of an online shop that sells those big dishes?

Hi everybody, I live in Padova and I lost ch5-CH4HD-4Seven last autumn and now all my BBC channels are gone, my 1.5 m dish needs to be replaced with a bigger one, can anyone help me with a reliable online vendor? Will a 1.8 m dish be enough? Please help, I need my Auntie Beeb fix.

Ciao Guys, sorry to have kept you waiting for news from Lake Maggiore but I have just returned from 5 days in Bologna.
If I tell you I am watching Scotland vs England (6 nations rugby), you wil know that the news is good….!!!!
Receiving ALL 2E FTA channels – at 6pm signal strength seems same as it was from 2F whilst quality is down from my normal 90-100% to 70-80%. However it is raining quite hard so need a few days to understand better the difference – tomorrow I will run a “CrazyScan” to compare signals from 1N, 2F and 2E.
PS: Owen Farrell has missed two penalty kicks but England still leading 13-0….would like to see Italy thrash France tomorrow but probably a dream…!!!

Derek and others: you seen the 2E reception map Pauil has put up on the right of the forums? I have entered my location and reception: a big fat GREEN! 😀

    BAD NEWS.

20.00 oclock and the news on BBC 1 had started pixelating. Interestingly, a flick through the regionals from 961 onwards shows different levels – somebetter than others. Tis true that its a bit crappy outside – Im hoping this is one of those temporary events. And as my benchmark channel of 4/secwn and also ITV (both on 2F and usually reliable) are also playing up, I will take it as just that.

Jimi, maybe your GREEN shouldn’t have been so fat…!!! Not scientific but, just zapping through channels, I have never seen such a variety of signal strength/quality on different transponders as now – not surprising maybe, the more sats they keep slotting in at 28° the more the possibility of differences…..think I will wait a few days before putting a pin on the map. My BBC1 holding up OK at 9pm, London is s75/q80 whilst HD is s70/q70…

I have lost all of them. 🙁 101, 102, all the 961 onwards. It is raining, yes, but then it was raining yesterday too. My experience is that I can lose 2F (and Isuppose 2E now) on bad weather days and hope this is the case. The only thing I can watch now is what is residing on 1N. (ITV london then.)

(Im hoping with reason that they havent buggered around with 2F for any reason). Bering back clear skies and farewell nightly satellite ‘wobbles’ (I hope!!)

p.s What colour do you think I should have done then? You know in Italy red, yellow and green all mean the same thing – its just the varying levels of horn sounding that differs!

Ciao Nick in Genova, have no personal experience but found this supplier of dishes up to 1,35m at reasonable prices:
    http://com.satmedia.at/s_product_catalog.php?ag2=761&gruppe=543&grpname=Offset Antennen 100-150cm
It’s in Austria but shipping costs very good….

crazy, in fact I this morning I have lost at least 6dB of signal, something that had not ever happened to me … The SD channels are all still ok but the hd have very little signal, it amazes me as a sudden drop of the signal, then around 23.30 should be ok again the hd … We’ll see, but I have yet to stabilize everything in ses …

As already noted are returning all the hd, I can see scotland vs england in hd then the signal was beginning to get lost, at around 19:45 and then go back now …. Mysteries satellite …

Indeed, I have BBC back too (all the 2E). BUT I am still missing my 2F channels (my main ITV, ch5 etc). (I only tune in to SD channels)

I believe that as soon as you move 1n things will get better … at least I hope so…

Why do you think that, Riccardo? What is your reasoning for this?

(Or should I say ‘Perche pensi quello, Riccardo? Cos’e something something something….’. See, Derek. Told you im crap.)

because the signal is too weird, I’m noticing that there are sudden losses and reversals during the day, it isn’t normal to lose 6db without major changes in the weather, I think they are working to stabilize 2e and 1n is a disturbing factor.

Im just not sure that it has any influence at all. After all, only 1 satellite is transmitting any one frequency so there will not be any interference. And as for physical positioning, the satellite are quite a distance apart from each other – 46 miles (73km) apart and 5 miles (8km) above/below altitude from each other. Further more, 1N is stable, its been there for years doing its thing. As has 2F.

2E MAY be being played with to stabilize it from ‘wobbling’ but then again I think this is a constantly undertaken procedure for all satellites (they all drift to a certain degree). This is more likely the problem if you want to disregard weather.

By the way, do you have rain on your LNB? Dont disregard this very important factor.

p.s Ive got ITV on 2F back now.

no, no rain and now I have again all the hd channels like this morning at 11, a bit ‘strange because from 19.30 to 23.30 were almost unwatchable … I think that for some reason at certain times for us that we have a signal less there is an important overlap of frequencies “spurious” that induce errors of this kind …

I really think it was down to the weather. Really.

As for ‘overlap’ of frequencies: Are there really any? Example: 10773 has MOVED from 1N to 2E. Therefore ONLY 2E is sending on 10773. There are not any overlaps of this nature. As for frequencies interfering with each other even though they are different frequencies (because of their wavelegnth) then yes, but that would happen despite what satellite it came from. (For example, if freq A interferes with freq B, then it doesnt matter if B cane from another satellite or the same satellite as A).

    Just my belief/view.

Yes Jimi, clear sky this morning and 2E signal higher and more stable than yesterday. 2E SD channels matching remaining 2F channels for signal quality (100%) and strength HIGHER than 2F at 75% vs 70%. 2E HD channels weaker than 2F with q 90/95% vs 2F at 100%. 1N channels still the strongest with typically s80/85, q100. These are values from my Humax box – will run Crazyscan later to see if confirmed.

Ciao Phil, just for the record, I had no picture break up – yesterday evening during rain, 2E signal was s75/q80 (SD channels) and s70/q70 (HD channels), but all perfectly watchable…

Run scan on the 5 transponder frequencies transferred from 1N to 2E. 1N was run on 2 Feb at 10.25am and 2E today at the same time. Weather was fine in each case. You can see there has been a 3-4dB drop in the signal (except 10847??) but there is still ample rain margin.

    ————— 1N (dB)——-2E (dB)
    10773 H………15,3……….11,4
    10788 V………16,1……….12,8
    10803 H………15,3……….12,0
    10818 V………15,5……….12,5
    10847 V………11,7……….11,1

    Will run another this evening.

Well its all tits up here… spent 30mins with the sat finder trying to get a stronger fix on the signal and i did manage a little bit of gain but alas that hasn’t resulted in getting any channels back. Indeed last night i was able to get itv hd but this morning I cen’t get anything not a sausage.
Ordered an Inverto but a new dish is in order, the collar that holds the lnb is very worn and wobbly. I see people mention Gilbertini and Fraccaro dishes but its the make and model important or is it all about the size, said the actress to the bishop!
