Dankeschön Steve. 🙂
Drizzling here at the moment and signal quality looks strong, 20% up on yesterday, expect bbc HD 1,2 & 3 will be fine all evening!
Itv HD still working and can be missing as early as 5pm on occasion.
It’s currently 20:10.02/05/2014 at 5:42 pm #7961
I was playing again with the dish and had BBC1 in SD quality but only on London the rest were unwatchable.
BBC 2 came up and ITV 3&4 were also ok. Horror and film4 good too. This was all using the skyhd box. 16:00.
Now at 20:00 the BBC are all gone. Even with the old box.
This makes me think, that the feedhorn could help. I called it a foghorn before. I mean with this dish I should get more that 10% quality. Only on 07d4 do I have 100s and 80q.
Hmm you say 7:00 for the lnb. I have moved it from 6:00 to 7:00. I have at the moment no reception at all.
Any suggestions on a feedhorn for a 190 dish.
Will continue playing tomorrow.
Ps where do you put this part in?

All strong tonight, SD from 2f still working, ITV HD and ch4 HD gone but one of the best 2f reception nights I’ve ever had.
BBC 1HD currently on and solid, will not be a problem this evening.

Joe….Sorry i misread / misunderstood your original post…….Your probs are definitely alignment issues…Is this a DIY installation ?….if so what did you use align your dish ?……You need / must… get the elevation and Left / right adjustments absolutely spot on..for good reception of 2F & 2E….Are you sure your dish level vertically …?
… did you use a spirit level when installing the wall bracket ..? ….about 7 o’clock position is the correct LNB skew for Munich ..but only if your dish is 100% vertical !……
You could try a Gibertini foghorn 😆 or feedhorn….and a Invacom C120 flange LNB…..A Quad might be better as you have Sky+ and a Sky SD box to connect ……03/05/2014 at 8:02 am #7976
Steve- have been reading about attenuators in the technical section but couldn’t find details as to where is the best place to install one? At the dish or just before the receiver? I have about 10m cable from dish to Loewe Tv and only 6m to the pace skybox. I am wondering if inserting one would further improve quality
Signals are staying constant for past few weeks in particular the ch5 set on 2F are good here in Hameln03/05/2014 at 8:37 am #7977
All Channels are back even bbc1&2hd 10:00
So I’m on target, but the quality should be higher for the evening reception. I bet I loose it again tonight.
I used a level to mount the wall holders, but it was at arms length above my head. So no its not 100% vertical.
I used the tree which I was pointing at with the 120 dish as a general guide and inclination meter for the elevation.
About 33. Then I move around until I hit a signal on the old digibox. Very quick signal changes.
Adjust the lnb from 5 o clock to 7 and the signal went down. Back to 5.5 and bbc1 hd.
I am only using my sky box as the signal tester.
(The old box, as the hd box doesn’t show quick changes?)
Can you suggest anything better and easier. Never used a meter. Always found the channels this way.
I was told the bigger the dish the harder it gets.
I have pushed the dish left, right, up, down and not found any improvement.
Yes I have the RT black ultra lnb.
The internet says its one of the best and some have used feedhorns and then returned to this.
Can the lnb really work on this dish?
All I need is 20% more quality?
If I can get this with fine tuning, any tips.
I saw you said Villa had some good tips, but I haven’t found this.

You really have no chance ..trying to fine tuning with a Sky box….If you really must use a skybox for fine tuning…….Get a Signal Attenuator…..So you can reduce the signal …until Tv picture is lost……then fine tune to when picture reappears…The sky meter is useless ..best to ignore it……..
You can try disconnecting the 2 support arms….and try adjusting the position /fine centralising of the main LNB arm….
on my dish….Max signal was found with the LNB arm down 1cm..with the LNB holder further up 8mm..Csee pics) …(in Pic 1 the white tape was the original LNB holder position ….In pic 2.. the brown bolt is the original LNB support arms position )…..
BTW…the LNB Skew at 7 o’clock ish…is as you look at the dish…
Terry …as you have a short cable ..A attenuator might be worth a try ..only 3 euro from amazon….connect at the receiver ..with a short cable …and adjust the signal strength …you might get a small improvement in signal quality …..03/05/2014 at 10:05 am #7982
Too cold today to fiddle around.
The bbchd and most of the other channels have already gone.
Only London BBC still working.
What meter do you suggest? There are so many to choose from.
How did you hold the center arm to find the best position?
I have already moved the lnb back and forth even off the end of the bar.
Ah my 5 o clock is looking from the dish at the lnb. So we are in fact at the same position.
I was thinking of getting a professional out to fine tune it. Not sure yet!03/05/2014 at 10:35 am #7983
Blime…your losing channels already ??…at the strongest time of day..?…your dish must be way out..Or a faulty LNB..or something ?…..
I just checked the signal from my old 100cm dish …..is still working ok.. at the moment… on BBC / ITV SD channels…!
I Didn’t use a special satellite meter to align my Dish…Just a Small tv Monitor in the garden and Humax Freesat Box & a signal Attenuator for ultra fine tuning…..
So i can’t recommend a proper signal meter ……(But I think its possible to hire a proper sat meter from Media Markt)…..etc……
…….But i’m sure someone on here can / will recommend a good sat meter …??…..Villa ,Derek ,Twol,Madiran…Anyone…….?03/05/2014 at 1:23 pm #7984
@steve – thanks for info. Will get one from Amazon.
If I’ve understood correctly attach at receiver and turn it down to just about loosing signal then adjust the LNB ?03/05/2014 at 2:23 pm #7985
Terry….For LNB / Dish ultra fine tuning…..yes…..you’ve got the idea….But reduce the signal until picture is just lost..then try to improve ..to get the pic back……….Its a very cheap…but affective way of getting the max signal quality from your LNB / dish…..
Also the attenuator is good for adjusting the signal strength perfectly… to match your receiver……For Max signal quality……I’m looking forward to your results…..This is the one I used….
Twol…..your Opticum Quattro C120 flange conversion is all done …..I’m currently testing it…..with the Raven Feedhorn….It’s looking good 🙂 BBC 1 HD 90Q..ITV1 HD 80Q…….And a much neater job…than my first attempt……..03/05/2014 at 6:16 pm #7986
Joe, try getting one of these, be a massive improvement over what you’ve currently used.
Just started losing my ITV HD, switched to STV HD, still going well.
BBC HD 1,2 and 3 all still at 60% quality! Amazingly strong tonight from both 2e and 2f, 2e is still stronger but both high tonight!04/05/2014 at 8:58 am #7991
@steve – ordered delivery Tuesday and looking forward to a little more twiddling
Many thanks04/05/2014 at 1:36 pm #7993
Twol…..your Opticum Quattro C120 flange conversion is all done …..I’m currently testing it…..with the Raven Feedhorn….It’s looking good
Steve, my wife is in her office Tuesday -> Thursday next week, so let me know when you can drop in (so that I can let her know) and how much I owe you – thanks04/05/2014 at 2:07 pm #8001
We offer a 43 channel IPTV system inc FULL 14 DAY CATCHUP for €18 a month04/05/2014 at 5:54 pm #8008
Steve, Derek, Twol, are your signals up since the back end of last week. I’m currently getting everything all evening except itv HD and ch4 HD.
UTV HD and STV HD are both surviving all evening.
Is it just here or are you all seeing the same high levels?04/05/2014 at 6:59 pm #8010
Blime …IPTV..has been busy…!!..??…
I think he sells…. “43 channel IPTV system inc FULL 14 DAY CATCHUP for €18 a month”… 😆 ……Is that right…?
Phil….I have been testing a new LNB c120 conversion ..over the last 2 evenings….so difficult for me to judge……
But yea….Looks like signal are up…9,45 pm..ITV 1HD 70Q…BBC 1 HD England 80 Q…maybe about 10-15 % ish….higher……
Twol….I’ll send you a email….about dropping off the LNB…..04/05/2014 at 7:15 pm #8012
10pm and 60% on BBC HD 1,2 and 3 and 40% quality on ITV HD and ch4 HD
, sky HD readings – amazing all solid and all functioning perfectly. I can’t believe it.05/05/2014 at 5:07 am #8013
Hi Steve, sorry but I have no idea what the signal is doing – expecting guests tomorrow so have been clearing up the mess I’ve made since Christmas…!!! Also disconnected my TBS “thingy” for the time being, so you will be happy to know I can’t throw db numbers at you either… 🙂 .05/05/2014 at 10:03 am #8020
Even ITV HD, BBC news HD, BBC 4 HD, CH4 HD survied all evening yesterday, so a marked and significant improvement. BBC HD services from 2E (1,2,3) didn’t go below 60% quality.
Long may this (blip) continue.
Any theories as to why, some shuffling due to the arrvial of 2C maybe? Simple cyclic variations?05/05/2014 at 10:19 am #8021
Same here – even ITV HD was at Min C/N of 38 over the past 3 evenings. Beginning to think that I shouldn’t be doing anymore adjusting !05/05/2014 at 11:36 am #8023
Phil, sorry, my reply above should have been to YOU, not to Steve – this housework is getting to me…!!!06/05/2014 at 9:32 am #8034
My ITV HD and other HD channels from 2F (with low FEC) didn’t survive last night, STV HD and UTV HD both did.
All 2E channels including HD ones, were OK, dropped to 50% quality at the low point.
Terry, I’m also leaving the dish alone for now – will have a tinker if I get back to a situation of losing BBC HD channels again.
