Update…..11-40 Pm…ITV 1HD….Has just about returned…..with slight pic breakup….11/05/2014 at 9:02 pm #8102
Hi Steve, thanks for the info. Indeed I have tried out different region channel versions. My top list is full of the vertical low band versions, which seem to be best around here. It is all gone still at 23:30. Previously CH4+1 (10729V) used to hang on through the lows. Never managed to get continuous reception in the other bands.
My dish may need some more tuning and hacking. A small fraction may be shaded by the rain gutter and I am a bit further east than you.
23:50 some CH4+1 pixel mess is starting to reappear. Hope I manage to tape Fargo rerun tomorrow night.

Last 2 evenings had poor reception but only lost ITV HD at about 2130 till 2330 all others with a low Signal but stable Picture. Guess ist the heavy rains we are experiencing, I hope !12/05/2014 at 6:55 am #8105
Phil, sorry can’t give you numbers cos I’ve got British guests and no time to play – however we have been watching the box for the last 2 evenings and all channels loud and clear as usual (been watching mailnly BBC1HD and BBC2HD).12/05/2014 at 8:13 am #8106
Thanks all, I’ve really struggled last 4 or 5 nights – almost striaght after I’d made the statement about things being OK and therefore not wanting to play with the dish, this hasppened – fate tempting indeed.
Away this weekend so it won’t happen then, my strongest are ITV london sd (973 on sky box) and channel 4+1 – but they both went as well for an hour.
The BBC regions do vary, BBC1 CI (968) and BBC south (or south west, i forget) (966) are better marginally than my normal BBC1 east mids.
It hasn’t helped that it has rained every evening as well.
Having said all that the most important TV over those nights for me was the Derby County V Brighton play off games, now I need to work out if I can get to Wembley somehow on the 24th. 🙂12/05/2014 at 8:19 am #8107
Only had noticeable problems last night, but switched to BBC1SD to continue watching the channel, so don’t know how long the break continued…. will check the HD recording later which will tell me perhaps.
Will keep an eye open tonight to see what happens!12/05/2014 at 10:52 am #8113
1,40pm…….2E daytime signal still down here……about 20% Q…….thats wiped out my 2E evening signal / weather margin …….
I think… …tonight will be the same as last night…..dropping to 50-60&……….But as long as 2E …SD is still receivable ……that’s Ok…..
Maybe SES have done a bit of 2E fine tuning / power reduction………………like they did with 2F about this time last year..?
2 F is looking to be at normal levels………..12/05/2014 at 2:52 pm #8122
17.50 and already experiencing significant problems especially on 2F.
Looks like a tough night… a bit like the weather here!12/05/2014 at 3:26 pm #8123
Hi all, the new meter arrived today.
Yes indeed this one is much better and does detect signals and movement.
I have found some channels again.
I have lost all the regulars.
I wish I could find a bbc channel and then fine tune that. But at 17:00 no chance. I am going to try at midday tomorrow. I did get all the channels last week, so I suppose this is the time to fine tune.
Any tips on how to measure the elevation?
I was thinking of making a strap at the front of the dish from top to bottom and and then taping on the inclination meter. I can’t reach the top of the dish! So I have to re-think this one.12/05/2014 at 4:38 pm #8128

Joe, not sure what dish you have, but it must have the elevation degrees engraved on the side? If so just set it to about 32 degrees and then align carefully.12/05/2014 at 5:00 pm #8131
No such luck. Nothing to even aim at on the mount. Nice elevation set screws, but no scale. The mount on the dish I can use as a flat to line up the inclination scale, but the wall mount is not 100% vertical. So I’m looking for another way to measure the elevation. Does measuring the LNB pole have any meaning. Can this be calculated back against the 25 degree offset?12/05/2014 at 5:58 pm #8132
Coming up to 21.00 and BBCx HD holding up with no picture issues….just (7.4dB)… Not much left spare!
ITV1 HD went at about 17.00 earliest I can remember.
2F still far worse than 2E for me.12/05/2014 at 7:29 pm #8133
@22.00 BBCx HD pixielating badly 7.0dB12/05/2014 at 8:22 pm #8134
Twol…I’m not sure….but Something happened at about 5-6pm….a big drop on all 2E channels…..then a slight recovery …,,then the usual 8,30pm fade…..No BBC / itv HD this evening..All 2E SD ‘ & CH 5 ,Ch4HD….ok…..But I am very finely tuned /focused to 2 F ( to try and hold on to ch 5 reception in the evening )…so thats maybe to be expected…..12/05/2014 at 8:26 pm #8135
I did some work on my Gibertini 150 tonight and drilled two new holes for the LNB holder moving it out and away from the dish by about 10mm. Will try to play with this setting sometime when the signal is up a little.
Replaced my IBU Quad with the Invacom($$$)+Gibertini feedhorn setup (with rain cover) and tried to find the satellite again at around 19:00. That took me a while. I found it easiest to tune Pick Ireland (which is the only FTA channel on the Europe beam on 2E) and then try to lock onto Ch4+1 for fine tuning. What a pain that was tonight with the dish jiggling in the gusty wind. I managed to get at least Ch4+1 into watchable condition. Signal is only a faint whisper these days. I should be thinking 180cm dish here now. But 150 is my limit.

Joe, also be aware that compared to last week the signal is a good 20% down, last week I was having no issues with BBCx HD channels all evening – remaining at 50 to 60% quality even through the 22:00 to 22:30 low point. I was even managing STV HD and UTV HD all evening from Astra 2F.
This week however, I’m losing BBC SD for an hour to an hour and a half each evening, BBC HDs are missing for even longer. As Twol has mentioned the astra 2f ones are going off as early as I can recall at any point in the past also.13/05/2014 at 6:41 am #8138
Even here I lost ITVHD & BBC NEWS HD at about 1930 till 2330 all other HD & SD were ok even CH5 set was low but ok Picture.
LOwest C/N Levels Ive had for a Long time!13/05/2014 at 7:28 am #8139

Max, as longer you have the channel set up on your receiver, it doesn,t matter if it is encrypted or not, you will still pick up the signal. So on 2E you can pick initially one of the strong channels like sky 1 HD on the PE beam.13/05/2014 at 7:34 am #8140

I noticed same drop, slight increase and then drop….kind of fitted with the awful weather we are seeing, which seems to over Western Europe… Certainly my daughter is seeing the same North of Newcastle.
Just waiting for better weather and some tree lopping before trying your lNB!
With these levels will have to squeeze some more signal somehow!13/05/2014 at 9:32 am #8144
Joe, you also shouldn’t need to measure the elevation, just adjust it whilst using the meter.13/05/2014 at 11:06 am #8147
Steve, how are things looking today – same as yesterday? or hopefully back to last weeks levels?13/05/2014 at 12:31 pm #8149
Joe, sounds like you have the same dish as me. I measured the elevation using a ‘Telestar Winkelmesser’ – €11,49 from Amazon and applied it to the top of the brackt. The 25° offset elevation has to be factored in, giving a recorded elevation of 7.3° on the Messer. Incidentally, I just replaced my Gibby 150 with this dish and reception is worse. I couldn’t pick up a signal at all, from any satellite and then I noticed that the LNB arm was offset well over to one side. I straightened that using Steve’s trick and drilling new holes for the support arms and can now get 75% strength and 60% quality (sometimes) when aligned to 162° (instead of 155°) following fine tuning (brick between ground and base of dish). Really suspect quality of dish!13/05/2014 at 2:07 pm #8150
Phil…. at 5,pm …for me 2F about the same as yesterday….2E slightly up….
Richard …any chance you can do some pics of the new hole & positions of your support arms…..?….13/05/2014 at 4:49 pm #8153
Today I took a straight piece of metal 2meters long. Made a hook and taped a digital BMI level onto the bar and placed this from top to bottom of the dish. I was at 82.5 degrees. So the iphone had it set up.I had calibrated this on a granite stone. Nothing, absolutely nothing at 12:00. I have now lowered to 83.5 and found pick TV, challenge and horror TV. The transport stream 07ef is 100/100. The meter keeps telling me go lower. I.e towards 31 degrees and not the 32.5. No ITV no BBC. Have given up for today.13/05/2014 at 6:06 pm #8157
Joe, trust the meter!
Steve, raining but mine was completely shot by 18:30 and still is.
This is by far the worst day since the Gibby was installed.
