Joe, love your adjustments – how’s your signal? Got mine back this morning but gone again now! Latest adjustment see photo, but still no go. Also attached scan of my dish “instructions” – same one?

Steve the LNB’s and the switches both arrived yesterday. Just waiting for the new cable.
Haven’t watched any TV for week. Been too busy doing other stuff.
Richard. That’s the same PDF assembly plan that they sent to me. We have the same dish. So you have adjust your support arm at the side and we have the adjust at the LNB.
Your position compared to the sky foot print outer ring must be also very close to mine as well.
I will up-date after fine tuning.

Mine seems a little weaker tonight, last time I had any issues with BBC SD loss was a while ago now, but I’m sceptical about its survival tonight.

Thursday 22nd BBC SD survived OK (BBC 1 East Mids).
Friday 23rd BBC SD breaking up for about 30 mins (Have I got news for you streamed live to TV using iplayer instead).
Saturday 24th BBC SD Very weak, went off early – missing for about 2 hours.
Sunday 25th BBC SD OK on some regional varations, watched BBC Channel Islands (968) all evening – no break up at all.

No ideas I’m afraid, only to confirm that here, all down by 0,5 to 1db compared with 9pm yesterday.

Thanks Derek….All gone now….no chance at all here…….This is even worse than last year..with 2F…..The tossers at SES are fine tuning as years go by…..for sure….Really quite pointless spending yet more money to try to fix it…..

Oh well, at least I know it’s not just me then. I can live with this but I want to know WHY?

Steve, thanks for the photos of your LNB arm adjustments on your 3 Mayposting. Since getting my system working a couple of months ago (Gibby 150 and Invacom quattro flange + Gibby feedhorn) it´s been up and down on the signal strength – more down than up to be honest.

    Your photos got me thinking.

I always had the feeling that the LNB should be mounted further away from the dish than the stamdard mounting would allow. It seems that you have managed in effect to achieve that by moving the end of the arm down and shifting the clamp bracket further along the arm.

Inspired by that I had a bash at doing it another way (see pics). I left the arm and clamp bracket as they were, turned the LNB mounting collar around the other way and clamped it onto a custom made steel plate, that I then attached with two screws to the threaded holes in the original clamp bracket, sandwiching the LNB mounting collar between the original clamp bracket and the custom steel plate. The pics show it better than my description!

The effect is great – BBC low and HD back up and running straight away (midday). Of course the test will come later this evening when the signal seems to be at its lowest, but I´m optimistic.

Garry……Great idea…..Thats about the same distance i moved back my LNB……you should also try adjust the main arm… left to right or right to left .. with washers and a longer bolt…or this alterative way instead of washers….see pic ( From Joe’s Dish )….but your Gibby probably won’t need this much adjustment …..I look forward to your evening results….

Thanks Steve. Surely that muchlateral adjustment is only if the dish is misaligned? I have some lateral adjustment on my clam arrangement – seems to be enough.
    Will update later.
BBC HD still going strong for now

There seems always a bit extra signal hidden in the GIbby……………………Today ……I tried……the torch trick……To check my LNB was bang on target……After very mini adjustment …”Its A Bullseye “……..I found a bit extra 2 % quality 🙂 …..OK….its not much……….but still a improvement……….Probably best done at night….I used a Blanket…..God Knows what the neighbours thought I was doing 🙄 ………

As Jim Bowen says….”You can’t beat a bit Of Bully “…..Moooooooo…………

what do you do with the torch? Is it one with a variable beam angle?

I’m in mid-Portugal with a 2.4m Fortec Star dish. Recepion comes and goes but tends to be better after sunset. I have discovered though that BBC 1 & 2 will work better if I access particular regions. With a Sky box these range from 971 to 992. Freeview numbers vary from these.
    Have ohers tried his method?

    Nimrod….Great top tip….yes…. some are stronger than others…here the V channels are 10% stronger….

Garry …Its just a cheap torch that fits the LNB holder perfect……the torch beam wasn’t quite bang in the middle off the dish….a very slight adjustment of the LNB holder… to the left was needed….

    Ps…. I have to drive to Ottobrunn…Latter……Is your Dish visible ..from the 99 autobahn..?…. 🙂 ……..

The things big enough to see from space! How do you judge the middle? The 6 screws?

    #8844

    Steve ……

I think it was about the middle of the upper 4 screw heads mine was at….I’m gonna give it another go at nighttime…..maybe there is a little bit more signal to be had…..?….

As a little test…..I might measure the Dish…..and find the centre….then mark with a cross….and adjust the LNB holder with the torch beam…. for that position ………….

Yes. It’s visible on Google Earth! It’s a rubbish dish though. A nearby friend with a solid dish about half the size gets similar recepion!

Steve, maybe you could make something with one of those laser pointer things mounted on the remains of one of the LNBs you must have destroyed with the C120 conversion. BTW full marks for your activity on the Satellite and TV forum where you managed to get Huevos off the fence and the thread closed down.

    Thanks… 🙂 ….Have they closed the thread down..?……shame… 😆 ……

Funny this…. But I don’t seem to have a spare Laser beam… in my draw of bits and bobs….. “Torchy the Battery Boy”…..will have to do…
……BTW…only one LNB has been trashed…when I accidentally hit a receipting prong with the hand file……But Opticum Quattros are only 8,50 euro…

Right….Just got back from Ottobrunn…. ..as nothing is recording tonight…I did a quick night-time torch test….I didn’t have time to measure the dish before hand…
I put some tape on..The LNB holder centre torch beam……I will compare ..to the true dish centre tomorrow ….Please Excuse the pics….is difficult to take a pic of dish at night……

Pic no 1..note…the 2 top screw heads….If you can see them ….
    Pic no 2..in flash mode…..
Pic no 3 is where..the torch beam looked strongest ….and I made a cross with sticky tape…
