September already….almost Oktoberfest time… 🙂
I don’t understand…..your getting Ch5 good …but not ITVHD…?
Twol….Your welcome  to give my spare “white tech C120 Quattro” a test if you like………..I could drop it off to “Mrs Twol”….the next time I’m in town…?
Good signal this morning..11,50am……All E’s a easy 100Q…..G’s at 80-90Q…..(Humax Foxsat HDR signal meter)
Ps….I have 4 bullet type attenuators on order …so i can test the Ultra high turbo power Sharp LNB properly…….
The idea is to have the Attenuators outside… on all 4 Outputs  of the  Sharp Quattro. LNB…….01/09/2015 at 10:29 am #24482

Oktoberfest … after this Summer, even I might pay it a visit!
I would love to borrow your spare .. it’s worth a try.
However, we were always very close in our abilities to get the channels… or not 🙂 , now I do think that our reception areas have changed somehow.
Ref the attenuators, perhaps you should just get a new EMP multiswitch, then you can really play around with both Quad & Quattro’s plus the built in attenuators 🙂01/09/2015 at 10:45 am #24483
Signal generally improving in the S of France with even the ‘Tricky’ 4/7 making an appearance… i expect this improvement to continue and reception to be generally pretty good this Winter.02/09/2015 at 7:12 am #24530
Just a quick update : The sat engineer came yesterday and moved the dish to 28.5. I now get BBC, ITV, Ch. 4, I’ve not had time to try all the other channels yet and this morning it’s overcast so not the best time to look. Ch. 5 was pixelated yesterday ( as I expected ) and gone completely this morning with the cloud. Nice to have BBC radio back, I like LBC but the ads do get tedious! Thanks Steve for the Smiley info 🙂02/09/2015 at 7:26 am #24532
I have been monitoring the Reception threads all summer and watched channels disappearing here in South East France (near Cannes). It is time now to move the dish to 28.5 I think.
A quick question. Which direction do I move the dish to move it from 28.2 to 28.5 please?
Steve02/09/2015 at 7:40 am #24534
Hi Steve, thanks for a simple question that even I can answer 🙂 . You must move the dish very slighty (0,3°) to the East, means towards the direction from which the sun rises, (to the left if you are standing behind the dish, to the right if standing in front of and looking at the dish). You might just check you also have the optimum elevation whilst you are messing!!
Good luck…02/09/2015 at 7:43 am #24536
Perfect, thanks Derek. I appreciate it.

PS Don’t forget also LNB skew and focus (like I did!!)….every little bit helps.03/09/2015 at 8:58 pm #24618
Derek have you felt in necessary move your dish (for the move to 28.5)? Or did you do it ‘just because events logically say you need to’?
My dish is still as it was (since first installed to 28.2) and for the last few weeks has been fine.04/09/2015 at 6:05 am #24649
i echo the above…. i havent touched my Dish for 18 months and reception is (now) good after some issues this Summer but generally much better reception than the Summer before.04/09/2015 at 1:05 pm #24671
Jimi and Monty, my dish is untouched for more than a year now and I have changed nothing since 2G went into service. I have always optimized the set up for 2E, specifically BBC HD on 10847H. However, 2F (and now 2G) have always been weaker by about 0,5 to 1db. For the last few weeks, all channels (2E and 2G) have a daytime CNR of 10 to 12db, dropping by about 1db in the evening, so absolutely no need to change anything 🙂 .
PS: Jimi, don’t know if yor suffered the same storm as here yesterday but it continued from about 5pm till 9pm. I lost completely all signals for abot half an hour from 7,30pm, not only from 28,2° but also from 19,2° and 13°!!06/09/2015 at 3:30 pm #24776
Copied this post from  ” Astra 2G in position later today or early tomorrow ” as it could be interesting for those searching “Reception Reports”
How more difficult is it to get 11127 V 22000 5/6 compared to other frequencies that moved to 2G?
Alistair and Blast, never had any problem with Ch4HD/4-7, neither before nor after move to 2G. At 5pm today, I added 11127 to my tracked frequencies – first indication is that it’s one of the weakest on 2G but still slightly better than ITVHD/11097. CNR is presently about 10,5db but I will continue tracking and post the full evening plot later.06/09/2015 at 8:50 pm #24789
Attached 2E/2G plot of today with 11127 added at 5pm. CNR of both 11127 and 11097 is more or less identical making them joint weakest channels on 2G.07/09/2015 at 11:38 am #24801
Good signals lately….1,35pm…..all 100Q…… 🙂 ……..
Right ….have to get on with laying the parquet flooring…. 🙁 ……07/09/2015 at 2:51 pm #24808
I had a bit of a play with my set-up last week……..
In South West France, I had been getting the 2g HD channels only very rarely so wanted to try to see if a tweak might bring them back. I set up a small TV by the dish, connected to a Humax HD box , so I could see what happened – I don’t have any kind of pro meter.
I tried the skew adjustment first on ITV HD. I couldn’t improve on a signal flicking between 45 and 50%.  I had a pixilated picture before I started and that’s how it stayed. However, on Steve’s advice I had bought an Opticum White Quad LNB as he said that it had tested much better than my (more expensive) Inverto Black Pro LNB with Gibby feedhorn. I thought I’d give it a go before getting the spanners out and doing more adjustment on the dish.
The result was an immediate increase in signal of 10-15% giving me a stable 60% and a clear picture. I know we are having improvements generally in signal level, but this improvement was immediate and unmistakable. I have had a good signal ever since with only infrequent drop-outs for the main HD channels I was looking to get back.
So it’s thanks to Steve for the advice and hats off to the cheap Opticum LNB. I’ll see how long it holds out before deciding whether to invest in a better LNB for my feedhorn.08/09/2015 at 8:11 pm #24878
Great result Dave……The little Opticum is a great LNB……..happy for you ….
tho …to be fair  …”Monty” deserves the credit for the Info …. as he  first posted on “Rob’s” …  that….Opticum quad  is a very good LNB choice …….!..
Happy HD viewing  (via…The Opticum  Quad  magic) ….. 🙂09/09/2015 at 6:12 am #24898
…and another black eye for Inverto LNB,s09/09/2015 at 9:38 am #24902
I have been ‘pushing’ the Opticum for around 3 years now !!! we saw this signal improvement when we were first testing dishes and lnb’s on the introduction of 2f….09/09/2015 at 11:28 am #24905
Then thanks as well to Monty…………………09/09/2015 at 1:29 pm #24923
I certainly agree with you all regarding the Opticum quad. Recently received an MTI quad and the Opticum. Tried them both and although the signal level was better with the MTI, the quality was much worse. I was using an Inverto B.U. but the Opticum takes the buscuit. The MTI is on its way back to Amazon.
STill don’t understand why the MTI was pulling a lot more signal than both the others but the quality reading was lower than the BU and the Opticum. Any ideas anyone?

Just to be clear folks, which Opticum quad are we talking about ? there seem to be two models listed a 3711 & 3717! also is there a c120 flange version?
