[quote=24898]…and another black eye for Inverto LNB,s

1.5M Gibby, Invacom C-120 quattro+gibby feedhorn and 80cm 19.2 into 8 x 16 multiswitch, Sky HD+ , 2 x Xtrend ET8500 & 7500 Sat receivers, HDI Dune media players, Panasonic 55 & 50 inch plasma
But why do all the “enthusiasts” on other sat sites  ..always …(like a broken record )…recommend  again and again …….. that the IBU is the best LNB?…………….when clearly we  have  all /Most…..have tested Inverto IBU…and  it’s not really very good……?
…….weird stuff……indeed….10/09/2015 at 7:31 pm #24993
Forgot to mention ……the “Inverto white tech C120 Quattro”…gave me good results in my location……..11/09/2015 at 7:26 am #25026
Sreve, can only think that most of these “guru’s” live in easy reception areas or have big dishes …. In our environment the IBU is crap … to put it mildly, it doesn,t even come close to the rest of the pack.11/09/2015 at 2:54 pm #25034
Well after 3 or 4 days of massively good signals and 9db at 20:00 and all through the night we are back to crap again. Down to 8db now and its only 17:00 🙁 Does anyone have anything to report about signal reception in the”signal reception” area or is it all “lnbs” and yes maybe you can read my disappointment that I am fed up of this crap signal being up and down all the time???? Good weekend everybody. 😉11/09/2015 at 3:15 pm #25036
Well, I am told we are in for some 30C temperatures again, so maybe another sun spot has zoomed in …. here at 17.15 looks OK’ish eg BBC1HD 9.8dB.
We will see!11/09/2015 at 3:39 pm #25038
reception ok here in the S of France11/09/2015 at 4:27 pm #25054

The same here – I was getting a good signal uptil midnight (when I went to bed) thought it was too good to last 🙁 – now since Wednesday the picture is breaking up around 6pm, thought it might be due to strong winds that we had on Wednesday (maybe moved the lnb slightly – would that be possible?) so I was relieved to read your post. We can only hope the signal might improve again 🙂11/09/2015 at 7:30 pm #25058
9,25 pm….Signal really down here……..only the  E “V” channels hanging on at 50Q  🙁 …..
i.e. “V”….BBC 1 and 2 Wales SD , ITV London SD  ….seems to be  the better /only …option here…
Nothing from G …..13/09/2015 at 6:27 pm #25137
I have had a new Channel Master 1.8 dish installed and I’m quite happy because I can now get most of the channels with no interruption so far. ( I had a Gibbertini 1.2 dish before). Nonetheless I cannot get ITV HD, CH 4 HD, ITV3 HD and 4SEVEN; and ITV2 HD and ITV4 HD are on and off depending on who knows what. The LNB side of the installation is a Channel Master Raven feedhorn + an Invacom Twin LNB. I’ve twiddled around on the skew; but the position the installer set seems to be so critical that when I try any kind of change this is for the worse. I’m in San Sebastian (Northern Spain). Any ideas to improve my reception problems on the channels mentioned? I don’t know if what I’m getting is the maximum you can possibly get here. Thanks for your ideas.13/09/2015 at 6:30 pm #25139
I forgot to mention that I have a Sky+HD box from Pace about 4 years old.14/09/2015 at 7:11 am #25176
Josh, your “neighbour” Nagusia was getting both SD and HD with a 1,5 m dish and Invacom Quad LNB. However, he has not reported since May when 2F was still in operation – Nagusia, if you are still out there, would be good to hear your experience with 2G 🙂 .
Talking about 2G, I lost signal for about 3 hours yesterday (from 10,30 till 13,30) and again for some minutes in the evening due to heavy rain. This was the first real rain for months, and hence first chance to check my rain margin since 2G started transmission – the result was not promising 🙁 . 2F managed to hold on but some frequencies down to 7db during the rain. After 9 years of uninterrupted viewing with my 1m dish, looks like time is nigh to upsize!!15/09/2015 at 6:41 am #25210
Josh….Your dish is probably focused on 2E where all the main FTA channels are……….to max 2G …(ITVHd ch4Hd etc) …your dish needs realigning …..but that will mean a lower signal from 2E…!…(its impossible with a big dish like yours…. to max on 2 satellites)
As choice of C120 Lnbs is limited….The Invacom  C120 Quad is reported to be the best…..I also had good results with the “C120 Inverto white tech quad”…….so they might be worth a try…….Avoid the Inverto C120 black pro quad….It’s not very good…!
of couse ….usual conditions apply …. in other words….Don’t blame me if no signal improvement is found……… 🙂 …..
Derek….what size dish are you upgrading to…?…a nice  Gibby 125cm…?
Signal not good here at the moment…..Had to realign the dish from G……….back to max 2E…….to hold BBC SD ,ITV Sd etc.. in the evenings…… 🙁 ….15/09/2015 at 7:57 am #25212

Steve, still uncertain if it’s worth the hassle and whether to go for a 1,25 or 1,50 (what would a 1,25 give me, an extra 1-1,5 db???)…. In either case, it’s a complete re-jig to move the dish further from the wall and up the pole (and not sure if the 80cm for 19° would then sit above it as now. My head tells me to go for the 1,50 with 2 LNBs for 28° and 19° but my pocket is complaining about throwing away 2 dishes and associated hardware 🙁 . Think I’ll wait until I’m really in the proverbial before making any move!!15/09/2015 at 8:22 am #25214
Derek, don’t do what I did …… I went 1.0 -> 1.25 ->Â 1.50 with all the hassle………. better to go for the max and save down the line!
Apart from some loss during last nights rain, still holding on SD .. HD goes about 8.30 pm15/09/2015 at 8:36 am #25216
Thanks Twol, that’s what I’ll do – wait till I can bear no more then go the whole hog!!15/09/2015 at 2:20 pm #25219
Thanks for your advice, Steve. I’ll see what I can do.15/09/2015 at 2:55 pm #25221
Just one more question. Do you think I could find a difference between my current twin C120 invacom LNB and the quad version? Could this change pull any more signal on my weak channels?

The honest answer is “try it” …. I never fail to be amazed at some LNB’S capabilities (or lack of), certainly I have seen reports of quads being better …. but logically should not be …15/09/2015 at 4:21 pm #25226
Channel five gone this afternoon…..ummmmmm15/09/2015 at 6:32 pm #25243
Bad, bad night.
HD went at approx 7.30, SD approx 8.30 pm.
Gone to Filmon!15/09/2015 at 6:47 pm #25245
same here,at least i had almost 3 weeks of good reception ,hope it gets back to normal before Doctor Who starts 🙂15/09/2015 at 7:22 pm #25247
At 9.15 seeing 5.5 to 6.0 dB  on the SD channels just about have ITV1SD but rest  gone.
Even Sky signal is down about 1dB… Don,t think I have seen that before.15/09/2015 at 8:29 pm #25249

Still here Steve. I’m not getting reliable reception on 2G channels either but I haven’t realigned my dish and probably won’t be touching it as 2E/F is mainly fine and I doubt tweaking things will make much difference. If I want ITV or C4 in HD I use Intelsat 907. Meanwhile the neighbours have banned my rooftop visits because they don’t want to be liable if I kill myself (and I’m not covered by insurance) – not that I will take any notice if I really need to attend to my dishes.16/09/2015 at 7:07 am #25268
Glad you haven’t fallen off the roof Nagusia, we were getting worried!!
Signal crap yesterday evening. both 2E and 2G down on end August CNR by full 2 to 3db (and the weather was reasonable with broken cloud). Plot attached with that of 27 August for comparison.
This morning looks even worse with ITVHD just hanging on and all channels another 2db down on yesterday morning. It’s now raining and, if this trend continues all day, risk to lose everything this evening
