Everything has been going fine, until Saturday night lost channel 5 for about 1 hr, now some bbc channels signal issues and trouble with 4 and 5 channels.
could someone advise me if this is due to weak signal as before. or has the strong wind yesterday move the dish very slightly as some bbc work at this time no issue with itv??.
SKY SD 120cm Disk 2LNB
Signal strength on sky box 97% on strength and quality
we are 7km from Monaco and 1km from Italy
Thanks for any assistance

Same thing here, no signal at all from 2E and 2F starting Saturday night on both receivers.
Very strange, I will check around noon and 2PM if I get a little bit of a signal…
Could it be an other sandstorm?
Just wait and see…

Thanks for info, I have asked local installer just to check the dish this afternoon due to strong wind yesterday, will let you know if it has moved or it has to be realigned ????.
I wonder if BBC have reduced signal strength, the ITV seems to be ok at moment

Just joined forum to say I have the same problem here today (35 km SW of Carcassonne). Slightly cloudy today only and we usually only lose signal during heavy rain. Channel 5 is as clear as a bell though. BBC1 NI now pixillating.12/05/2014 at 9:38 am #8112
Thanks for the info, I am not knowledgeable about the BBC + 4 channels etc signals, maybe someone could updates with what is happening????. I guess my local installer will know imm he looks at signal. So I can pass on the info, after he has called

Installer came and said the quality is very weak, so he tried to improve the quality with the dish but did not succeed. He has now made the signal but on most BBC and ITV channels.
Now struck if I know the signal has improved from (Riviera) will call them back, don’t want to get another company involved as they have done all our installation for the last 10 years.
very disappointed12/05/2014 at 1:26 pm #8115
Thanks for your update, I will let you know as soon as I detect a signal from 2E or 2F, it’s easier for me to fine tune as I have a motor on my dish and make sure it’s not the wind, even if it’s a protected area of my balcony.
In the meantime, you can use Filmon, or BBC Iplayer, hoping for the return of the signal…ASAP.

Latest update, I just checked on 2E, BBC 2 N.I. is appearing with a weak signal of 2.1 Db.
But I do not want to get excited too fast…we have to wait a little bit for more…
Gilles12/05/2014 at 1:39 pm #8117
Thanks for your suggestion will try filmon, but how do you use iplayer which needs a uk proxy setting ????? if I am correct.
wait to hear from you re the signal getting better

Tony …..did your sat installer do a test without…..your signal amplifiers ?…..as I have posted before ……Signal amplifiers will just make your weak Signal Quality worse……forget about Signal strength….its not important…..
It could make the difference …you having reception or not…!……12/05/2014 at 2:12 pm #8119
the 2e Signal is has been weak with 2f a little better.. Losing the Beeb this afternoon…as i have done off and on, since returning from a weeks holiday back in ‘Gods own Country’.12/05/2014 at 2:15 pm #8120
Yes Tony, you need a Tunnel (SecurityKISS is the one I use) installed on your computer, but only when you download.
Try this: http://beebify.com/
For BBC programs only, I find it very convenient, but you also need the short use of a Tunnel, just follow the instructions provided on the beebify page.

I will try and explain, all sky channel no issue. BBC 1 and 2 all channel around UK + Wales + NI + Scot all working at this exact moment also channel 4, channel 5 a little flaky.
I am on sky SD boxes x 2 . it seems that in the last couple of hours some improvement just be someone has improved the signal, like Riviera has mentioned.
Will keep you informed

Thank you all for putting the time and energy into this. Signal is back here on all channels but I’m still wondering why we lost it today with no rain. More Sahara dust, more worrying satellite tweaks, or poor Summer reception starting?
Justine12/05/2014 at 4:03 pm #8125
No C5 at 1850 this evening. The Android FTA IPTV System is taking the strain.12/05/2014 at 4:08 pm #8126
Can you confirm you have all the channels back. As Justine says he has all back. I still have issues with channels
Tony12/05/2014 at 4:21 pm #8127
No 2f channels here this evening 50kms. south of Carcassonne. No probs at the moment with 2e.12/05/2014 at 4:49 pm #8129
Still got Channel 5 here but it is weak. The monitoring software on the PC (Ben’s) shows there was a slight increase in signal around 18:45 across most transponders it is looking at, then it fell back again to the 18.30 levels an it is not increasing again slightly. Sky is clear so don’t think it is local weather dependant.12/05/2014 at 4:55 pm #8130
Monty, we have everything 2E and 2F here at the moment, including all the BBC HD channels. The signal is down from Sunday, I installed our new Gibertini 125 and the initial set up gave me q65% (Satlink), 10dB on the TBS 5922 PC card and q80/90% on the Humax box, that had dropped by this morning with 2E coming in at around 51%(Satlink) it has since recovered a bit but our Humax readings are currently (17:30) q60/70% for 2E and 2F. I have some more tweaking to do on the dish and will post some results in a day or so.13/05/2014 at 6:08 am #8136
Lost all BBC/ITV/channel 4/channel 5 last night (used Filmon).Spoke to installer this morning and they say will replace the disk (1.20) tomorrow as they feel the disk (metal)has warped due to the strong wind over weekend.
They are doing this tomorrow afternoon, my feeling is that this is not my issue however not going to disagree, it seems on Anglo info (cote d’azur) people are getting issues since week-end. I wonder if the signal strength is being turned down????? on permanent basis,
Will update after dish changed
Tony13/05/2014 at 7:51 am #8141
I don’t think it is the dish.
Several forums report a drop in signal.
I only have a 0.9 x 0.98 dish and had no reception on 2E or 2F when I arrived back in France (Les Issambres), but managed to tweak the dish by wedging the arm up by 1cm and right by 1cm at the LNB end. The arm has always been wedged against the roof to stop the dish fluttering in the wind.
On the Humax, I then got 90% Q on ITV3, 80% Q on BBC/ITV channels, E4 0%, CH4 50% and 60% on CH5 on 2F on the 25th April. CH5 faded to 50% in the evenings. I get 100% Q on Sky news. Since then the quality has been gradually reducing till on Sunday morning it dropped drastically so that now I have not been able to receive any 2E or 2F signals. I notice that sometimes my strongest ITV3 channel is almost there (45%). Therefore I reckon the signal has been reduced by about 45% on 2E and 2F. I tried tweaking the dish again but to no avail even though the weather is perfect. I still get 100% Q on Sky News.
So looks like I am going to have to wait till later in the year when they have stopped adjusting the satellite transmissions before I look at getting a bigger dish.13/05/2014 at 8:56 am #8142
As I said yesterday, it could be a sandstorm as 2E and 2F are weak at the same time, and there is right now sand in the air somewhere…
Have a look: http://www.buzzfeed.com/miriamberger/a-sandstorm-swept-through-egypt-and-everything-turned-orange
Gilles13/05/2014 at 10:19 am #8145
Let’s hope you are right Riviera.
Fingers crossed.13/05/2014 at 11:42 am #8148
still no 2f /2e here this afternoon down Carcassonne way….April Showers but no ‘Sand Here’. the ‘Airflow’ is in the wrong Direction….ie from the North. we only get Sand arriving here when the airflow is from the South.13/05/2014 at 2:36 pm #8151
I have had no BBC or ITV signals for a few days now here in Cavalaire sur Mer. Currently using a Triax TD 110 on which I used to receive BBC and ITV about 90% of the time but now nothing. Have ordered a 1.25 m aluminium dish which I hope to install soon but in view of the current situation I am now wondering if it will be large enough!!
